The NB8 – Initiative

The NB8 Forum III, which was planned for April 1 has been postponed due to the current situation during the COVID PANDEMIC. The new date for the NB8 – Forum III is September 27 2022.

NB8 Forum III on 27. September 2022

The NB 8 Forum is an informal union of the five Nordic and three Baltic states, represented by the Honorary Consuls in Hesse. On September 27, 2022, the forum will take place for the third time, after a pandemic-related break. This time, the focus will be on climate protection and current, innovative strategies combating climate change. Discussions will be held with high-ranking political and business representatives from all eight states.

Climate protection is also a top priority in the Nordic and Baltic states – some Scandinavian countries occupy top positions in environmental rankings. In the Baltic countries, Latvia is demonstrating particular responsibility by doubling its forest areas, while Lithuania and Estonia are making a significant contribution by digitizing their public infrastructures across the board.

The aim is to report on the successes and measures taken in Northern Europe and to formulate common concerns on specific issues.

NB8 sees itself as a commitment to a united Europe and wants to use regular forums to draw the public’s attention to this beautiful and exemplary region, which is not unjustly described as Europe’s “model student”.

Registration will be possible shortly here.

NB8 FORUM II ON MARCH 28. 2019 IN FRANKFURT AM MAIN: E-MOBILITY & ENERGY EFFICIENCY

After the great success of the NB8 Forum 2018, the Honorary Consuls of the Nordic – Baltic States in Hesse invite you to another NB8 Forum 2019. This time the focus is on the topics “E-Mobility and Energy-Efficiency”, in both areas the NordicBaltic 8 have great innovations and expertise to offer. For example, Iceland is the “World Champion of Renewable Energies”, only electric cars may be sold as early as 2025 in Norway and by 2030 in Sweden, Finland will soon have the world’s largest battery plant and in Lithuania‘s capital Vilnius, a single app coordinates all means of transport – and makes private cars obsolete. Estonia is a pioneer in digital technology solutions, Latvia is leading the way in the field of smart mobility, and Denmark is regarded as a role model for the German energy transition.

The NB8 Forum in Hessen is the only platform in Germany that brings together all eight Nordic countries in order to reach a wider public through a joint appearance and to give strong impulses for Europe. In 2019, almost without exception, all ambassadors of the NB8 as well as high-ranking representatives from politics and business of the countries have announced their attendance.
